Having gone back to the same site as my internship last year, i'm excited to be getting back into the groove and right into the work much sooner. I'm really excited to be running reactions on my first day and learning even more than before!
I can't say I learned any new skills, but my mentor did refresh my memory about some that I forgot in the year since I was last here. Some of these include washing, separating, drying, and filtering my product. Thanks Mingyu!

One of the challenges that I have faced is properly remembering all the procedures and lab techniques that I learned last year. I have retained a lot of them, so relearning is allowing me to get going much faster than before. Another challenge that I have faced is making small mistakes, like misplacing a decimal point and adding one-tenth of the amount of reactant than I meant to. I think that my mentor and the lab have been very supportive and welcoming, so thank you Mingyu for your patience!

While I don't think that high school has directly prepared me for this internship, it has helped me by facilitating my internship last year that taught me most of the skills I need this year.

If I was to choose three people or things that I am thankful for during this internship, I think that I would say my mentor Mingyu, the lab professor Keary Engle, and nitrile gloves. For Professor Engle, I would like to say thank you for allowing me to intern at your lab for a second time and for the guidance and support you´ve given me. I would also like to thank Minyu for his patience and support on every procedure and experiment I performed under him, and for allowing me to have such an amazing and valuable internship experience. For the gloves, I would like to thank them for protecting my hands countless times from harm.
